I saw this snap on The Sartorialist the other day and can’t get it out of my head. I love that every piece the woman is wearing could easily be straight from a man’s closet: the desert boots, the slouchy crew neck, the no nonsense aviators, the formal blazer. It’s the tailoring that makes all the difference. The close cut at the shoulder, the pointedly tomboyish, “no cupcakes allowed here” ponytail, the slight reveal of a feminine ankle lend to a look that is simultaneously conservative and sexy. One might worry that too much of one style would overwhelm the wearer causing the dreaded off-hand remark that the clothes wear her. Luckily, that’s not the case. How can you not help but stare (whether at her alone or the duo together– he is her perfect, dare I say, accessory) ? Her look isn’t menswear inspired; it’s menswear done right.
